With 11 years of expertise, my specialty lies in showcasing your child's best qualities in their essays while catering exactly to what college admissions readers are looking for: well-rounded individuals with a clear passion for a limited number of things that all share a common theme. What does this mean for you as an applicant? It means that your college applications shouldn't strive to show that you are a part of 20 different clubs or play 10 different sports. The college admissions panel wants to get to know you. They want to understand the life experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today and the passions that you carry with you. When applicants try to provide a laundry list of accomplishments or activities in their essays, readers are left with the feeling that they do not truly know the applicant.

who am i?

My name is Brandon Tineo and I am a Harvard University (2015) and University of Pennsylvania (2019) alum. I am currently working at Google and will be pursuing a masters in at Stanford this fall.In 2012, I started Tineo Tutoring Services with 2 goals in mind: improving my skills as a teacher and giving back to other Bay Area natives. Since then, I've directed my focus to helping students get into their dream schools using the heuristics, tips, and techniques I myself have used repeatedly.My approach to college admissions counseling and tutoring is direct but friendly.Below you'll find a short list of additional qualifications:

What about freshmen, sophomores, and juniors?

Although I mostly work with seniors applying to college, I also work with younger high school students. With these younger students, my goal is to guide them down the right path to explore their passions while also building up experiences that will later help them on their college admissions journey. However, because high school is an extremely formative time period, I always want to make sure my younger students are not overwhelmed thinking too much about college too early.Keeping these goals in mind, I have experience helping students with the following:
